New FreeBSD Logo Announced
There you have it. That is the new FreeBSD logo. I think it is a mess. I cannot picture it being embroidered on a polo shirt. That is my basic test for a good logo. On the bright side, I hope to see Beastie disappear off the front of the FreeBSD Web site now.

I don't understand what FreeBSD is trying to do here. Beastie just needed to be cleaned up a bit. This...this is a joke.
The "logo" as shown above is horrible. However, looking at the vector art at http://logo-contest.freebsd.org/result/640-1.png it's not so bad. Its somewhat simplistic in black and white, but it's no where near as bad as Debian's wanna-be coffee stain/Lucent rip-off.
The red banner that the "logo" is appearing on, along with the text formatting, is about the most anti-good image design as I have ever seen.
This is terrible. Isn't a logo supposed to strengthen brand identity, and easily and quickly represent some concept that is to become identified with the brand?
I have no idea what this thing is supposed to be. It's like Beastie's decapitated head has been encased in a marble. Wow. That makes me think of... nothing! It brings to mind nothing even remotely in the same ballpark as having to do with robust, secure, and powerful computers.
And what about someone new to the community who isn't familiar with the demon? What is it then? Ugly, ugly ugly.

Yuck. Get the mascot's out of the way and build a professional logo.
I wonder if I can locate the submissions and choose my own logo and mascot for FreeBSD.
It would be better FreeBSD not to have any logo than this new dildo mutant. :-)
I like the logo, it keeps the original mascot intact and looks somewhat flashy.
I like it too.

That logo looks like the mutant offspring of Pokemon and a vibrator.
Yeeeeechhhhhhhh
